Now is the moment for conservatives, all conservatives, from strong evangelical to staunch Reaganites, from Republican moderates to blue dog conservatives, from right leaning independents to libertarians, to step up and restore America. This could be our last chance.
With the death of a true watchdog of the Constitution, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, things just got real (to say the least).
Democrats are clamoring about Republicans threat to stall approving Obama’s Supreme Court Justice nominee – as if they wouldn’t do the same if roles were reversed. As a matter of fact, they did. Today I heard that the president could nominate a minority for the Supreme Court and then paint the Republicans blocking the nomination as racists or homophobic. That is something else to watch out for.
Obama might nominate a moderate as Scalia’s replacement and the establishment Republicans might very well fold, accepting the nominee in fear of losing the presidency again. Another possibility is that republicans are pressured to accept a far left ideologue and, predictably, cave. The latter possibility is quite plausible, as both the U.S. Senate and Congress have let us down before.
I must, however, ask the following question about a SCOTUS nomination:
How much will this process cost? Yes, President Obama has a right to fill Scalia’s seat. If Obama knows that the nomination would be blocked and stalled, why even bother? It will take time from the Senate to work on more serious problems and it will cost a boatload of money. The answer is, of course, politics, not what is best for the nation.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
After hearing of Justice Scalia’s passing, I quickly turned on Fox News. Right off the bat, I see South Carolina’s own Sen. Lindsey Graham lecturing me about how important this presidential election now is. He went on to say how Republicans need to nominate someone “electable” and then he went on to explain how successful businessman Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (who I support) are “unelectable.” Lindsey Graham’s telling me who is “electable” is exactly the same as Graham telling me who definitely won’t be elected. Remember, we thought John McCain and especially Mitt Romney were “electable.”
My advice is to vote your conscience. This way, you’ll never feel bad about your vote. As time goes on you might be proven wrong; however, for the moment you cast your vote, feel confident you are making the right choice! If it doesn’t work out, it is the fault of the candidate, not yours.
I have a a bit of a different way of looking at this election than Sen. Graham. This is the perfect time to put a true constitutional conservative like Sen. Cruz in the Oval Office. After eight years of far left leadership, our country would only benefit from a sharp right turn with someone like Cruz at the wheel.
I know there are a lot of conservatives who like Trump. I understand why and how he gets such support. Ironically, Trump is a monster created by Lindsey Graham and others like him in the Senate and Congress that didn’t do things they promised voters, such as defunding Obamacare. As of today, the Senate and House have a combined approval rating of 13%. In other words, almost 77% of the country currently disapproves with the job they’re doing.
Sen. Graham and I do agree on one thing, but for different reasons. Trump is unelectable. Graham believes a Trump nomination will anger voters and cause a rush of democrats to the polls in November. A few weeks ago I heard a theory that is more plausible. Once nominated, Trump would be the easiest target for the liberal media to take down. Think about it, three marriages, thousands of employees, and countless business dealings all around the world, I’m sure there must be a few people he forgot to have sign a non-disclosure agreement.
While the establishment media prop up one flavor of the day, they so quickly switch to another. They are already hinting a that Trump presidency will work, as evidenced by the liberal media’s all to willingness to help Trump attack Cruz. I assure you, however, that once Trump is nominated, the media will want Trump’s head on their wall.
As much as Graham thinks Cruz is unelectable, is as much as I think Sec. Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are unelectable. Again, now is the time to put a true constitutional conservative into the White House.
Hillary’s email woes might be strongly pursued by the FBI but all too ignored by President Obama and Attorney General Lynch. Still, Hillary is losing trust by her strongest supporters with every email dump. As Secretary of State, any email received or sent could become classified at any moment. Use of private email server for official and often sensitive U.S. communications should never have even crossed her mind. It was outright reckless behavior.
Hillary’s actions aren’t only untrustworthy and reckless, but also lack common sense. A Republican candidate can easily bring this up along with her order to stand down at Benghazi. Questionable donations to her Clinton Foundation followed by her actions as Secretary of State for those donors and numerous scandals she’s been neck deep in over the years are also easy targets to pin on her during debates.
Thanks to the Democrat party’s superdelegate system, changes are that Bernie Sanders won’t get the democratic nomination. If Bernie miraculously gets the nomination, he will get the millennial vote but the adults will crunch the numbers and refuse to pay for all the free stuff Sanders wants to deliver. Also, if you think Obama has a weak foreign policy, picture old Bernie sitting across the negotiating table from Putin.
Because of the weak democratic presidential field, now is the time to go big with a proven conservative. Now is not the time to look to someone like Florida Sen. Marco Rubio with middling views on immigration and on how the NSA deals with our privacy. Nor is it a time for Donald Trump who will continue to fund Planned Parenthood. He claims they can help women without abortion. In fact, they perform abortions themselves while sending women elsewhere for medical tests like mammograms.
Now is a good time to remember why you consider yourself a conservative or an independent that leans conservative. For me, it goes back to the basics that our Founding Fathers gave us in the Constitution: Small government, personal responsibility, private property rights, and fewer taxes and regulations. Now is the time for conservatives of all stripes to unite, rally and organize for the only strong, true constitutional conservative running, Ted Cruz.
